Go beyond knowing the Dialysis machine parts name

A medical machine has several constituent parts. The same goes for the dialysis machine. Till now, you know about the process of dialysis and you also understand simple how the dialysis machine works. In that blog, we dropped some names of the parts. That being said, in this blog, we are going to go beyond knowing the dialysis machine parts name; we are also going to understand their job.

Go beyond knowing the Dialysis machine parts name

The different parts of the dialysis machine

Let us first start with the parts that you might already be familiar with and we will go on from there:
  • The recliner bed: Once you arrive, you would have to lie down on the bed first. This bed, while not a connected part of the machine, serves an important function and that is to provide you with comfort while the dialysis process is going on.
  • The connecting tubes: These tubes are connected to the machine. The job of one of the tubes is to extract the waste-filled blood from your body and the other one is to put the fresh blood back into you.
  • The chemical jugs: These are the chemicals that mix up and create dialysate. One of the jugs contains bicarbonate and the other one contains an acidified solution.
  • The dialyzer: It is the main component of the machine. It is the component where the dialysis takes place. Once the chemicals are mixed, the dialysate is mixed in with the blood and once that happens, it is up to the dialysate to provide purified water and separate the wastes from the pure blood.
  • The syringes: These extra syringes are used to administer heparin. This medication is used to make sure that the occasionally clotted blood is dealt with. This solution is a common form of risk prevention technique that is provided to the patient.
  • The alarms: Each and every alarm has its job. Throughout the procedure, your vitals are going to be monitored and these alarms make sure that if there is anything wrong, the machine is recalibrated on the fly.
  • The monitoring unit: Throughout the dialysis, your vitals are going to be monitored. The monitor entails the several alarms that we have mentioned in the previous point in order to see to any changes that have to be made on the fly.
These are the components associated with the dialysis machine. Now, if you want to dialysis yourself, you can get in touch with our resident Nephrologists in order to get your procedure started.
